About Us - Programs, Foundation, & Research

About:

Providence Brain and Spine Institute

Providence Brain and Spine Institute is a comprehensive, integrated center of excellence that treats all conditions of the brain and spine. We work with referring physicians and our patients to design treatment and rehabilitation plans focused on each patient’s needs. Visit our website to learn more about these service areas.

  • Neurology
  • Surgical and non-surgical spine care
  • Neurosurgery
  • Physiatry

Neuro Research and Clinical Trials

The providers at Providence Brain and Spine Institute are dedicated to finding advanced treatments for neurological conditions. This is done through involvement in progressive clinical trials, both sponsored and investigator initiated. Clinical trials are research studies that test whether new medical treatments, strategies, or devices are safe and effective.

Brain Academy

Brain Academy offers a comprehensive suite of neurosciences education and resources designed to inform and empower our community and provider partners to build healthier communities together.

Providence Foundation

Through donor support, Providence Foundations of Oregon creates and sustains essential programs not covered by insurance, funds research to explore new ways to treat – and even cure – patients and provides support for families needing financial assistance.

We believe that passion is at the heart of giving.

Debbi Rapoff Neuroscience Caregiver Education Fund

The Debbi Rapoff Neuroscience Caregiver Education Fund has been set up with the Providence Foundation thanks to gifts from generous donors. Debbi Rapoff was a dedicated and inspiring RN educator at Providence Portland Medical Center for many years.

This fund will provide resources for the ongoing, advanced educational needs of professional RNs and other non-provider clinical staff of the Providence Brain & Spine Institute and partners, including, but not limited to:

  • Providence-hosted workshops/conferences/trainings
  • Honorarium costs of national speakers
  • Purchasing of educational materials for reference.

Allocation of the fund will be led by Medical Director, Dr. Lisa Yanase, and PBSI leadership.

Our hope is to grow this fund over the coming years through philanthropy, with a goal of $100,000. Many patients look for ways to express gratitude for the care they receive, and this fund provides an additional opportunity for those interested in expressing their gratitude philanthropically.

For additional questions about the fund, please feel free to contact Dawn Johnston or Mike Schmitt.
